In May 2000 my daughter and I were driving through the country looking for "photo-ops". Driving through the small town of Ladora our eyes were drawn to the Ladora Savings Bank. We stopped to peer through the window and an elderly man came from across the street. After a short visit with us, he produced keys to the building and we were allowed inside to take photographs. I have since scrapbooked my photos of the vault, the lighting fixtures, the teller cage, the writing around the ceiling. He then took us next door into a crumbling building where we photographed two ancient jail cells. He indicated his love of politics, and I gave him a photo I had with me of Governor Vilsack dressed as the Scarecrow from Wizard of Oz, taken by me during one of the governor's Spring Fling events at Terrace Hill. I'm delighted that the bank is being restored and this delightful bit of Iowa given a new life. Congratulations! And thanks to the gentleman who allowed us the privilege of witnessing up close this gorgeous old building.

As the Executive Director of the Route 6 Tourist Association, I have visited Brad and Colleen many times over the summer and I couldn't agree more.

The atmosphere is relaxing and fun, the decor impeccable, and the food is simply amazing. The only thing I don't like at the Ladora Bistro is having to go home!

Brad & Colleen are some of the many hidden treasures Iowa has to offer if you get off of the boring interstate, enjoy the scenary of the two lane highways, and shop mom & pop!

A lady named, I believe, Von, was receptionist at Linn Co Dept of Soc Welfare in the 1950s.

If you can locate her for me, I will state that you will have a great story on collections. Hers and mine.

I would like to see how she is doing with herself and collections.

I recall one from when I was a teenager, after a dinnertime run, relaxing after a shower and watching MASH after the 6pm news.

The couch moved, and I thought someone was bumping it...then I saw the ceiling light fixture swinging...wow!
